We jumped into the car and headed north towards the Glass House Mountains - and whatever else lay for discovery.
And it was that aimless wandering that brought us to Lake Baroon in Maleny. We caught glimpses of it as we wove around the crests and scattered cattle farms, but it wasn't until we were on top of the steep 2km descent towards the lake that the view truely took our breath away. The view of the soft blue was like a blessed mirage, beckoning the weary to take refuge in its stillness. Unfortunately it's technically not swimmer-friendly due to blue-green algae bloom.
So excuse my hodge-podge cut-and-layer ensemble of photos to present a wide angle view
. For those who don't want to brave the 2 hour drive without some decent relaxation, we caught glimpses of these amazing tree-houses
that overlook the lake.
