The in-laws threw a family dinner party for the sis-in-law's 21st, and I got roped in to help with some of the prep.
And that was right after doing our laundry, grocery shopping, stopping at Ikea to pick up cheap rugs (apparently the same one the in-laws use for the dog), getting gift vouchers from Myer and picking up ingredients the mum-in-law forgot to grab.
Talk about a full-on day!
- Cheese and bickies
- Pumpkin soup
- Lepeny with silver beet and cheese
- 2 pork roasts
- 2 lamb roasts
- Potatoes in jackets
- Corn on the cob
- Baked cauliflower and cheese
- Baked zucchini in tomato sauce
- Potato bake
- Dark chocolate chunks of Bounty and Rockyroad
- Chocolate mousse
- Fresh rock melon cubes and strawberries
- White chocolate cheesecake tarts
- Carrot cake with icing
- Fruit cake
After 2 hours beforehand helping with prep (cuz the SO abandoned me with the mum-in-law) and a heavy dinner, we didn't leave till 10:30pm. Totally knackered out from the running around, conversations and 1 bottle of James Squire ale.
After this, I will never happily agree to hosting large dinner parties, unless they're outdoors and in front of a BBQ.More photos
