We have walked past Ajisen Ramen on George Street in Brisbane several times, but I resisted trying it to save myself the grief of tasting something inferior to what I've been lucky enough to have back in Singapore. That's not to say that Singapore has the best ramen though. I'll bet the ramen in Japan is still always the best in everyway.
But we were hungry and getting just a wee bit desperate.
The first sign it had potential: the staff actually greet properly in Japanese, rather than the muttering/slurring often heard in Singapore's Japanese fast food stores. 1 point to Brisbane.
The service was quick. Then again, it should be, as the restaurant was only half full, it was Sunday (Brisbanites tend to hide at home on Sundays) and past 3pm. Some of the staff were stting at spare tables having their afternoon meals too, but no customers seemed to be lacking in service though.
To be perfectly honest, I sincerely -from the bottom of my heart- believe the Ajisen Ramen here in Brisbane is better than the same food chain back in Singapore. The soups are full of rich flavour, the noodles perfectly cooked and the portion generous.
I miss wonderful spicy miso ramen and this totally hit the spot.
