It might not be a public holiday, but you can't diss the day you're allowed to be drunk before noon. Heck, the pubs were filled with drunks by 11am. (^0^)/
||The St Paddy's Day events made it almost impossible for us to find parking anywhere in the city. We eventually gave up circling around and ducked into paid parking (which we would regret later), quickly dashing to George and Elizabeth Street for the parade commencement.|
The first band struck up 2 minutes after we arrived and managed to pull out the cameras. They were awesome and the whine of the bagpipes vibrated in your chest, long after the band had marched past down the street.
Several floats and groups followed, each float represented various organisations.
There was a spluttering of rain in the middle of the parade, which did put a bit of a damper on the occassion. But the sun came out quickly and the party proceeded without anothe hiccup into the Botanic Gardens... where the beer ran out and the line to the free sausage sizzle was never ending.
The SO had to go vote and we visited the in-laws for lunch and dinner (ham, chicken, salads, coleslaw, pavlova, mudcake, cheesecake & fruit).
