There is something magical about cooking. We learn that food is one of the 3 major components that keeps everyone alive: the others being air and water. It's something everyone shares, yet can be as simple as a tossed salad or as complicated as an authentic Indian curry.
Which is why the sharing of food is usually the core component of any celebration: showers (tea), birthdays (dessert), wedding (lunch/dinner), funeral (comfort food), etc.
I have always loved cooking. Feeling the ingredients in my fingers as I knead/sprinkle/toss them, smell them as they're pounded/fried/blended... you always get a wonderful concoction of colours, smells and flavours.
And food has the ability to make people feel happy. Truely happy.
That's what makes cooking so special to me.
