There's some Youth.SG blog contest/festival going on and they sent me an invitation email.

It's open to 15 to 35 year olds (35 years old considered youth, meh?)

It's interesting, but...

I do not prefer Xiaxue to Sumiko Tan. I prefer neither, thankyouverymuch.

Plus I'm not hip (my hips are very wide though)... definitely not hot (my ass is generally quite cold, no matter how many blankets I pile on) and so not happening (my drama-mama life is part of my elaborate scheme to overtake Big Brother and Skating with the Stars in popularity ratings).

I... I... urk.
This pic is just making my headache/cold sinus worse.

One part of me being the academic snicker at the thought - the youths of today are supposed to be post-modernist or post-post modernist. Given the use of the ad, it just rendered the idea of hip back into the echleons of dark ages.

"I am online 24-7"?

The youths of today has no life nor know the concept of outdoor sports etc. How scary can that me.

The whole "my name is amelia, hear me roar" - geez. wasn't that a tagline for the feminist movement back in the 70s to 80s. Do they even know the cultural context before they used that phrase?

The youths of today has no life nor know the concept of outdoor sports etc.

It is probably compounded by the fact that most youths, after spending all their money on branded material goods, complain of having no more dough for outdoor activities (and extremely lazy, myself included).

We are a pampered generation.
