Morning after Riverfire
6th-Sep-2010 07:37 am

Riverfire, for those of who don't know, is an annual event that marks the start of the Brisbane Festival. The banks of the Brisbane River (and for those lucky enough to live close enough, their balconies) were crowded with half a million people, turned out to catch the two key features of Riverfire - the F-111's dump and burn, and the fireworks.

And while everyone watches the sparkles and bursts of colour, not everyone catches a glimpse of the work the morning after - tug boats pushing back the barges of spent fireworks tubes down a much quieter river.

Or the work that goes in beforehand. We had fireworks dudes in our floor setting them up on the roof for two days beforehand. A big crate covered in ble tarp with a big 'danger' tape wrapped around was sitting beside our elevator. Wheeeee.

Ooooooo!!! Did they have guards keeping an eye on it while it was there?
