Ron Mueck exhibition @ Queensland Art Gallery
30th-Jul-2010 07:09 am

There has to be something said for someone who makes ridiculously realistic sculptures - right down to the hair and goosebumps.

The exhibition closes 1 August, so if you've been wanting to see some of his works up close and in the flesh (almost literally), this weekend is your last chance. I also highly recommend watching the video of the making of the Pregnant Woman (2002) in the Ron Mueck Resource room to fully understand the extent of work that goes into one of his sculptures.

Thanks for pics. I had been meaning to go for some time, and when I finally got there I was a) immediately called to a meeting half an hour from that point, and b) was sad to find I couldn't afford the entry fees..

That sucks.

$12 is a little expensive for only 11 items on display, but it was nice to stare at the level of detail that goes into each - the veining, the blushing, wrinkles and goosebumps. Quite awe-worthy.

Not to me, I admire someone who can put that much detail into any art piece, especially in the human form.

You would've loved it if you went. Better than any faceup artist ever!

Actually his piece 'Two Women' belong to National Gallery of Victoria, so when the exhibit is over, you might get the opportunity to see it.
