Zhu Weibing & Ji Wenyu's People holding flowers 2007

I'll admit that after all this time and having had a friend working in Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), I've never been to the Gallery.

A friend mentioned they were going to visit the 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art exhibition, which ends April 5. We tagged along for the ride.

Reuben Paterson's Whakapapa: get down upon your knees 2009

This HUGE piece is made of glitter. GLITTEHHHHHHHHH!

Charwei Tsai's Mushroom mantra 2008

Handpainted Buddhist mantras on mushrooms. The entire exhibit had a mouldy scent.

Subodh Gupta's Line of Control 2008

Aka the Utensil mushroom cloud, or at least to me

Kohei Nawa's PixCell-Elk#2 2009

Hiraki Sawa's video footage installation

Shinji Ohmaki's Liminal Air – descend 2007-09

Possibly the most fun space in the entire exhibit.
Also known as the 'string room',
walking through the hundreds of string
feels almost like diving underwater.
The string caresses you as you move through it,
hiding you from the person in front or beside you.

That first one, I look at the little figures and it reminds me of Data from Star Trek.

Not quite the inspiration, but I can see the resemblance.
