Apparently it's Japan Week from 19-26 Sept and there are a bunch of activities happening, sooooo... is anyone else interested in attending these?*

Sunday 20 Sept
11am - 3:30pm: Japanese Cultural Day - calligraphy, tea ceremony, ikebana & Japanese music
Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, Japanese Garden

11am - 1pm: Mochi Making
Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, Japanese Garden

11am - 4:30pm: Japanese Cultural performances - music, dance, sumo & matrial arts
Queen Street Mall stage

Tuesday 22 Sept
11am - 12pm: Ikebana Demonstrations
QUT Art Museum

Thursday 24 Sept
6:15pm - 7pm: Sake tasting evening (bookings essential)
Mizu Restaurant, Teneriffe

Friday 25 Sept
4pm: Japanese cooking class (bookings essential)

Oooh, sounds interesting. Hmmm, Lolita originates in Japan. I could even dress culturally. But why is everything always on the same days. So now it comes down to a decision, Sunday 20th - Gencon or something Japanese???

I really like the sound of the one at the botanical gardens with the tea ceremony and calligraphy.

Yesh! I have a yukata that hasn't seen the light of day in ages. And it's probably just that time of year when every event which gets planned in January comes to fruition.
