First, the suck. I'm a head cashier at the green bookstore chain. On Friday afternoon, I was ringing people up, trying to keep the line down, and getting ready to go on my fifteen-minute break. Alas, I got this guy, who we'll call Mr. Colorado.

The Saga of Mr. Colorado -- Cut for length. )

And the WTF: Tonight I was ringing up a customer. She seemed a little weird -- she kind of pounced on me before my previous customer had finished gathering her things and moved away from the register, and then she had a set of tarot cards and a book on the mysteries of 2012. Not my scene, but whatever. I rang up both items, but the total was too much, so she had me take off the tarot cards. Then she found a gift card in her wallet, had me add back the tarot cards, and I ran the gift card. Her total was about $25, and the gift card has $7 on it. I told her how much she still owed, and she was confused because she thought it had $25 on it. I said no, she must have used it before, and she looked shocked for a minute and quietly said: "Fuckwad."

Yep, "fuckwad." I made a o.O face, and a few seconds later, she clapped her hands over her mouth and said, "Oh, I probably shouldn't have said that to you." Probably not! LOL.

AHAHHAAA How freaken festively ADORABLE are these?!!? EEEEEEE!! Found a week or so ago, I’ve been totally squeeing over Kit Lane’s Little Oddjects etsy store pretty much daily from then.

How anyone could resist her non-traditional felted cuties I have no idea, especially compounded by her terminology when titling and describing them. The very idea of bringing them home and having them have little adventures about your house overflows me with nothin short of a whimsical Sylvanian Families meets David the Gnome delight.

AHAHAHAAA!!! I’m all giddy from the thought right now, and I’m just looking at the pictures!

Comedy duo Hello Bye Bye is breaking up. Member Kiminobu Kanenari (34) announced the news on his official blog, and his management agency confirmed that the two are splitting at the end of this year.

Kanenari formed the group in 1996 with Akio Seki (34). However, Seki has recently been doing a lot of solo work, leading Kanenari to team up instead with Shoji Murakami (54) for this year's M-1 Grand Prix comedy competition.

Both Kanenari and Seki will likely remain as solo comedians for now.

When I got the mail today, I received xmas cards. And I realized that I forgot two. Ack! Goes in the mail tomorrow... will have to be new years cards instead.

Weather people say we will get hammered over xmas. Already getting snow today. At least it has been a light flurry today.

One of the rabbits has been out, bold as brass in the yard. The cats and dogs haven't caught up with them yet.

Time for bed. *hugs*

His arbitrary votes in the legislature make no sense to his constituents.

Word of the Day for Monday December 21, 2009

arbitrary • \AHR-buh-trair-ee\  • adjective
1 : autocratic, despotic
2 : determined by whim or caprice : existing or coming about seemingly at random or by chance

Did you know?
"Arbitrary" is derived from the same source as "arbiter." The Latin word "arbiter" means "judge," and English adopted it, via Anglo-French, with the meaning "one who judges a dispute"; it can now also be used for anyone whose judgment is respected. "Arbitrary" traces back to the Latin adjective "arbitrarius" ("done by way of legal arbitration"), which itself comes from "arbiter." In English "arbitrary" first meant "depending upon choice or discretion" and was specifically used to indicate the sort of decision (as for punishment) left up to the expert determination of a judge rather than defined by law. Today, it can also be used for anything determined by or as if by a personal choice or whim.

Today, at the craft store, I bought a pack of white dishtowels to embroider/cross-stitch.

So, I'm looking for World of Warcraft embroidery patterns, or drawings that would easily translate to a pattern. This is definitely something I could do myself (and will be doing for myself), but I would love to see the different perspectives other players have on cool things from the game. Locations, buildings, maps, abilities, gear, items, just-for-fun gear and items, recipes, characters, mobs, NPCs of all sorts, symbols?

I'm a Tauren hunter, so I'm going to be looking at Tauren stuff and pet stuff, as well as the Horde symbol, but I'd love to see what you all come up with!

If you do WoW crafts (and I know some of you do), post them!

Murlocs...cuter than you'd expect )

Being a college kid, I spend a lot of time bouncing in between jobs; some of you may remember me from my summer lifeguarding tales of woe. I have since trekked my way back to school, and currently, I have two part time jobs: I work at the campus book/supply/apparel store during the day, and an on-campus cafe at night. Both have their ups and their downs, and, of course, their share of WTF and pet peeves.

First, a WTF from the cafe:

We need an Ordering Food 101 course around here )

Next, and more recently, some pet-peeves from the apparel section of the University store:

Kicking rival ass, back in 15 )

Wherein signs mean nothing, and we don't need your stinkin' Stanford! )

I recently got a new car (a B.A. Station Wagon, thank you) and I'm working on pimpin' it out, so to speak.
I checked the memories and I couldn't find anything specifically relating to it, so I was wondering:

What are some fairly cheap ways you've tricked out your rides?
haha. And I'm talking cute, awesome, funky, crafty ways you've made your vehicles your own.
Not just Wal*Mart seat covers and dice in the mirror.

Back story: I sells you overpriced cookware at a store with two names.

Today, I was covering the front of the store for my coworker who was getting water. A woman, maybe 60-ish, comes into the store, and I give her my customary, "Hi, how are you, welcome to *store*," etc. Keep in mind that I am about 10 feet away from her when she enters the store. She shouts (literally shouts) to me, "CROCKPOT!" (Not, "can you please show me the crockpots," but actually just the work "CROCKPOT") I lead her to our crockpot display, and begin giving her my spiel about the differences between the two models we have out on display. Mid-sentence, she cuts me to off to say, "NO I WANT SOMETHING SMALLER." So, I lead her to the only place a smaller one would be, and realize that we don't have any smaller crockpots in stock. So, I apologize to her, and try to tell her that she could find one at Kohl's or Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but she cuts me off at "If you want" and shouts "NO." She then promptly exits the store.

Not a huge suck, but... what? Can you really not wait two seconds for me to tell you where the item you need WOULD BE?

Bonus suck:

When I'm not hawking cookware, I do office work at my dad's office, a real estate management firm.

My co-worker, D, needed to fly to another state to sign some paperwork. He had one flight booked, but needed to switch to a later flight, so he was on the phone with customer service to change flights. He needed our boss, B, to take care of the cost of changing flights since it was a company expense. From what I overheard, the customer service rep said that the cost would be $50 (D said "$50" multiple times). D sets up the purchase,, then hands the phone to B to finish the transaction. B quickly starts yelling at the customer service rep about the cost of changing flights (which might have changed based on the nature of the purchase?). B yells that the customer service rep, "WILL change the flight for $50," then starts dropping "f-bombs" left and right, and demanding to speak to the customer service rep's manager. I heard no escalation, he literally went from giving the customer service rep his email address to shouting. At some point, he handed the phone back to D, and walked out of the office complaining that he "hates CSR's," leaving everyone else in the room to look at each other uncomfortably

I would have said something (having been on the receiving end of such a tirade many times), but I'm just a temp and the man signs my paychecks, so I kept quiet. I'm not 100% sure what happened, but I somehow doubt that the CSR went from 0 to EB in 5 seconds.

Things have finally wound down some, but it's still going to take me a while to catch up with everything, so please bear with me if I owe you e-mails and such and am slow to reply.

(Also, not a word about photo backlog, please. I'll just, erm, sit here and ignore the ever-increasing mountain of photos I still have yet to wade through.)

So I finished a few of my travel books.

High Fidelity
- Didn´t like it really TBH.

Everything is Illuminated
- Utterly captivating, adored it. Will buy a nice hardcover copy since my cheapo Penguin edition is inexplicably water damged.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
- Only read a little of it, its a bit MEH but okay filler reading.

Love in the Time of Cholera
- Am nearly halfway done and I do love it, another one I might get as a nice hard cover too.

Still have one more book I havent read and there´s a few I want to buy when I get to the states because English language books here are hardish to find that isn´t Stephen King or Danielle Steel. I miss wearing lolita and regular goth clothing too *sigh* When I get home the first thing I will do is look for work and spend all my first pay on BRAND. Also have to loose a shittone of weight.
